All my work is influenced by nature. I recently moved from the Midwest to the Southwest. This most recent piece I finished toward the end of 2016 after only being here for a few months. The colors used are all reflected in the scenery of the high desert. The abundant cholla growing here influenced its shape. The long, slow process of knotting allows me to add little details similar to closely observing the same in the natural world. My work urges the observer to slow down and look closely just as when one takes time to observe the small details of nature.
